Fun with Grandma & Grandpa

Last week, Claire had a little vacation at Grandma & Grandpa's in Baton Rouge. She went to stay for an entire week and we missed her so much! Of course she had a blast though and never got homesick. While she was there, they played outside on the swing set & golf cart, went to visit the Tiger - Yes the LSU tiger and she even managed to come home with an LSU t-shirt from the basketball coach (but she's still an Auburn fan), and visited with family. I know how it is taking pictures with a little one running around, so here are just a couple from the week. Claire is excited to go back and visit again this summer when the pool is ready! Thanks Grandma & Grandpa for Claire's vacation.

She's not so sure about those LSU tigers.

Mike the Tiger was being lazy.....guess he just got beaten up by Aubie.

Reading stories with her Great Grandma Bessie.

Being silly with her baby doll's paci.

A Little Sewing

I recently decided it was time to learn how to sew so that I can make cute little outfits for Claire without spending a fortune. While it appears I may not be saving much, the joy I get out of the completed outfit is worth it. I took a class at The Smocking Bird in Homewood last November and it's been a fun new hobby of mine since. I've made a few baby clothes for friends as well. Here are a few pictures of the things I've made....I still have a ways to go and they are by no means perfect, but i'm pleased. And thanks to Grandma for helping me figure out these confusing patterns from 400 miles away on the phone! Next on my list is an embroidery machine....I just have to get James on board with that one!

Easter 2010

We had a great, fun-filled Easter weekend with family. Friday started off with an Easter Egg Hunt at Claire's daycare (which unfortunately I had to miss but James took a few pictures so I could see all the cute kids hunting for eggs). When we all arrived home that afternoon my parents had already made it to our house for the weekend. We played outside, ate dinner and waited for Aunt Debbie, Uncle Chad, Abby & Walter to get there too. Claire was too excited and fell asleep 30 minutes before they arrived, but she was super happy to have everyone at our house the next morning.

Saturday morning, James & Chad went to play golf while the rest of us ate a huge breakfast and played. Abby showed us her new cheerleading moves from school while Claire and Walter ran around trying to copy what she did. After we were all finally dressed for the day, Deb and I decided to go run a few quick errands which turned into a 4 hour shopping trip....lucky for us Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed the play time with the grandkids. Later that night we stuffed ourselves with a delicious meal from the grill - steak, chicken & shrimp and dyed Easter Eggs for our contest and hunt the next day. We then tried to get everyone to bed early to see what the Easter Bunny might bring.
Our newest cheerleader.....yay kindergarten!

And I almost forgot.....waiting for the ice cream truck!
We all scream for Ice Cream!
The Easter Bunny was certainly good to the kids, and the adults were able to enjoy some of the candy too!
Sunday morning we woke up early and attended a wonderful service at church. We took pictures in front of the beautiful flower cross and then rushed home to cook lunch. James' parents joined us for lunch and it was delicious. After we were all good and full it was time for the Easter Egg Hunt.....James hid all the eggs including the $10 GOLDEN EGG!! The kids could barely contain themselves and finally the hunt began. All were found except for the golden egg....James kept giving hints and eventually pretty much just pointed it out to Abby & Claire....Abby kept the $$ and Claire kept the egg....both girls were happy and Walter had already started swinging by this point and didn't care either way. We always have such a good time when family is in town and it was great spending the entire day with everyone and celebrating Jesus' resurrection.

The golden egg is definitely in this direction...

good hiding job.....do you see it??
